Stephanie Hicks is entering her first year at Spring High School and her 21st year of teaching. Stephanie is the primary director of the Chorale, Chorale Men, Chorale Women, Chamber Choir and Concert Men. Stephanie graduated with a Master of Music Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She taught choir for 5 years in Oklahoma and has spent the last 15 years as the head choir director at Crownover Middle School in Denton, TX. Over the years, Stephanie's choirs have consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes and Overall Outstanding awards. She has had the privilege of judging UIL contests and accompanying for many UIL competitions, TCDA reading sessions, MS/HS All-Region concerts, and musical performances. She has also served as a church accompanist for many years. Stephanie is a member of TMEA, TCDA, ACDA and TMAA.
Stephanie has a love for teaching music and a passion for working with students. She is excited to be a part of the Spring HS Choir program. She looks forward to working with Mr. Levine and getting to know the students.
Josh Levine is beginning his third year of teaching at Spring High School. Josh is the primary director of the A Cappella Women, Bella Voce, and Concert Women. In spring 2015, Josh graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in music education. At UH, he was a section leader in the school’s premiere vocal ensemble, was active in student-led ensembles, and sang multiple roles with the Moores Opera Center. As a member and section leader of the university’s Concert Chorale, he performed as a backup singer for Josh Groban. He also traveled with the choir to Germany in 2013 and 2015, where both times the choir took first place in major international choral competitions.
In 2014, Josh was the director of a group called Ardore, a student-founded, multi-conductor ensemble where singers give their fellow classmates the opportunity to gain valuable conducting experience. As director, Josh brought in clinicians, organized outreach performances, and inaugurated a successful choral composition contest. Josh also sang in Men of Moores, UH’s male pop a cappella group.
Josh studied conducting and music education with Drs. Betsy Cook Weber, Jeb Mueller, Charles Hausmann, Julie Kastner and Mr. Franz Krager. He studied voice with Dr. Timothy Jones and Mr. Joseph Rawley. A recipient of scholarships from TMEA, Josh is a member of TMEA, TCDA, ACDA, and Pi Kappa Lambda. Josh lives in Houston, where he is also a member of the Bach Choir of Houston and is an active in synagogue and church music in the area.
